Frequently Asked Questions

What are the limitations of the free trial?

While using your free trial, you have unlimited access to the most popular books as listed on the search page. From that selection, you can download to your heart's content for 3 days, after which time your trial will expire and you will be asked to upgrade if you'd like to continue using the service.

Throughout your trial, you may also search and view FreeBookr's other content, but you won't have access to download books that aren't listed on the main search screen until you have upgraded to a full membership.

How do I keep using the service when the free trial expires?

Simple! You can upgrade your account to a full unlimited subscription by going to the My Account page when you're logged in.

Is this really unlimited?

Yes. You're free to download as many ebooks as you'd like throughout the duration of your membership.

Do I get to keep the books I've downloaded after my trial expires, or my membership is canceled?

Books are not erased from your computer or e-reading devices when your account expires or is canceled.

Which devices do these ebooks work on?

We currently offer ebooks for the following devices:

  • Amazon Kindle
  • iBooks on Apple's line of iOS devices (iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch)
  • Barnes and Noble Nook
  • Kobo
  • Sony's line of e-readers

Please note that any readers which support the "epub" format will work with files labeled for "iBooks". We also offer HTML and PDF versions of books, which you may read on your computer or convert to other formats.

Are all books available in every format?

While many of the books in our service are available in multiple formats, not every book will be available in every format. But there is a way to convert books from one format to another to ensure compatibility with the reader of your choice (see below).

How do I convert ebooks from one format to another?

There's a great (and free) piece of software that will let you convert any books you download (regardless of format) to a format compatible with your device. It will even sync the books to your device when you plug it in. The software is called Calibre, and you can download it for free here.

It's very easy to use. Simply download books from FreeBookr, add them to Calibre, plug in your device, and press the "Send to device" button. It'll take care of any format conversions that are necessary. We love Calibre!

Can I download books directly onto my iPhone, iPad or Kindle without using my computer?

You can access many of FreeBookr's books over WiFi or 3G directly on your device, while away from your computer, on vacation, etc.

iOS Devices (iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch)

In Safari on iOS, simply go to m.FreeBookr.com and start downloading! Make sure you have iBooks and/or Kindle installed from the App Store, and you're set.

Amazon Kindle

On your Kindle go to Home -> Menu -> Experimental -> Web Browser. Type m.FreeBookr.com into the address bar and you should get a search screen. You'll be able to search for and download books directly to your Kindle, with no syncing or computer necessary.

What is the difference between verified and unverified books?

The "verified" column indicates that the person who posted the book has proofread it for errors, or has otherwise vouched for its quality. It's not a 100% guarantee, but its a good indicator nonetheless. If you see multiple instances of the same book title, your best bet is to download one with the "verified" checkmark.
