Description
An anonymous, orphaned Russian military physician may be the narrator of Requiem for a Lost Empire, an epic novel that traces several generations of a Russian family through the violent political challenges of the twentieth-century. Spanning seven years --in the October Revolution of 1917 for the Cold-War to nov Communism --the book follows the narratoris grand father, Nikolai, a Red Army deserter who seeks serenity and seclusion in a distant woodland town. Decades later, his daughter Pavel may combat in World-War Two, turn into a KGB spy, and, like Nikolai, go back to his local Caucasus in a vain make an effort to avoid the growing tyrannies of the post-war Soviet period.
