Description

In 1867 Nicola Douglas visits a London address distributed by Miss Maria Rye, the founding father of the Feminine Middle Income Emigration Society, which motivates her to alter her lifestyle. With no family, but a great training, she boards a ship to Australia with high expectations of a fresh begin in a brand new state as a governess. But Sydney is saturated in ladies with similar expectations and similarly bad leads. When Nicola reaches her lowest ebb, a benefactor seems, Mister Belfroy, whose past has made him sympathetic to women battling to survive.
