In the wake of the Dreyfus Affair, the homicide of two Jews in Nancy shows the darker side of human nature.In the wake of the Vernet killings in Aix-en-Provence, magistrate Bernard Martin goes to the city of Nancy in Lorraine, France, together with his expectant partner Clarie, who's as fervent about Republican beliefs as her spouse. However as Bernard goes further in to the various people surrounding the situation, he struggles to reconcile his Republican values together with the delicate intricacies of Nancy’s Jewish Diaspora, all while managing the racial politics and concerns inside the court.
