On a grey day in 1936, Flora Phelps stands in-line at the American consulate in Stuttgart, Germany.  She posesses present for that consul, whom she'll entice to be able to support her family get free from Hitler’s Germany.  This is actually the tale of unlikely characters, the vibrant, stunning Flora and her spouse, the brooding, studious Simon, two Jewish immigrants who have been each delivered to America by their own families to locate better lives. An unbelievable complement, they fall in love and meet in Nyc. His fortune is made by Simon—inventor of the jigsaw puzzle—eventually. Today rich, but nonetheless outsiders, Flora and Simon become enthusiastic about saving the family members they left out in Europe whose fates are decided by developing anti semitism on both sides of the Atlantic.
