When Betty MacDonald hitched a maritime and relocated into a little poultry farm on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State, she was mostly unprepared for the rigors of living in the open. With no electricity, running water, a home looking for constant repair, and times that went from four each morning to nine during the night, the MacDonalds had hardly a minute to place their feet up and relax. And then got the kids. However through every test and trap through disaster and chaos this indomitable household somehow, thankfully, never-lost its spontaneity.
