Description

An ambitious small landowner endures the increasing loss of “the only lady he’s actually been fond of” when his wife dies during labor using the couple’s next child, Karel, on the moonless Tx evening in 1895. From an earlier age Karel demonstrates so gifted on horseback that his dad enlists him to experience in plot-secured horseraces against his neighbors. But Karel is eternally haunted by feelings of mom he never knew, by the blame in his father’s eyes, and permanently designated by the yoke he and his siblings are compelled to use to plow the household areas.
