Description

In the first summer of 1917, Bess Crawford is charged with escorting a convoy of seriously injured troops in the trenches of France to England. Included in this is just a small aviator, burnt beyond recognition, who posesses picture of his girlfriend pinned to his tunic. But later, in a crowded train station, Bess views exactly the same lady bidding a heart-wrenching goodbye to an officer, obviously not her spouse. Back on work in Italy, Bess is surprised to find out the picture in a paper associating a request from Scotland Yard for details about her killing, which happened on the evening Bess observed that anguished goodbye.
