On August 19, 1953, the American and British intelligence organizations released a coup in Iran against a cussed, bed-ridden seventy-two-year-old guy. His name was Muhammad Mossadegh, and his offenses had been to tease with communism and to nationalize his country's gas sector, which for forty years had been in British hands. To Winston Churchill, the Iranian prime minister was a fanatic, decided to embarrass Britain. To President Dwight Eisenhower, he was providing Iran towards the Soviets.
