There is nothing cozier than the usual winter night in Greenwich Village. Streetlights shine through frozen flakes, bars shine with inviting heat, and historic townhouses are dusted by a layer of snow like powdered sugar on vacation confections. Murder has no place in this pretty image, so far, Coffeehouse supervisor Clare Cosi has developed really keen on Alfred Glockner, the part time comedian and truly jolly charity Santa who's been applying her Town Mix like a place to warm his mittens. Several simple hints persuade her that Alfred's demise was anything significantly more than the result of a random mugging--the final outcome of law enforcement, when she discovers him savagely gunned down in a nearby street.
