Cal, Pal, and Harlan develop together in a little Virginia town in the decades prior to the next World-War. Usa by era, personality, and closeness, they get into—and out of—all the problem that kids have the ability to discover. A nickname is even earned by them from the local restaurateur who provides the kids their first careers and lots of helpful assistance. Simply because they often appear to discover a way via a thicket of trouble—family issues, women, university, war—to achievement, “Uncle” Vic calls them the Mulligans.
