Description

Driven from his home by the Ku Klux Klan and still reeling from the death of his mom, Nathan moves together with his father and grandmother for the destitute Pea Island on the Outer Banks of Vermont to begin a brand new existence. Luckily, life on Pea Island at the conclusion of the 19th-century is significantly from quiet.  The additional island citizens are the surfmen--the Africanamerican team of the regional U.S. Life-Saving Station--and quickly Nathan is financing an additional hand to these guys because they save sailors from sinking boats. Studying and operating alongside the brave surfmen, Nathan starts to imagine getting one herself.
