Description

In the entire year 1754, the stillness of Charlestown, New Hampshire, is broken by the horrifying cries of an Indian raid. Small Miriam Willard, on each day that had guaranteed fresh joy, sees himself rather a hostage on a woodland path, swept up in the flow and ebb of the French and Indian War. It's a traumatic march north. Miriam can just only drive himself for the next stopping place, the next little part of food, the next frozen stream to be entered.
