Description

A Thousand White Women could be the story of May Dodd and a colorful assembly of pioneer women who, underneath the auspices of the U.S. government, go the western prairies in 1875 to intermarry on the list of Cheyenne Indians. The covert and controversial "Brides for Indians" program, launched by the administration of Ulysses S. Grant, is supposed to simply help assimilate the Indians in to the white man's world.
