An 1800 insurrection prepared by way of a literate slave known as "Prosser’s Gabriel" motivates a historic book pursuing one remarkable man’s life.In a period of post-Revolutionary fervor in Richmond, Virginia, an imposing twenty-four-year-old slave named Gabriel, known for his bravery and intelligence, plotted a revolt concerning a large number of African- American freedom hunters equipped with refashioned pitchforks and other tools of Gabriel’s blacksmith industry. The revolt could be thwarted with a confluence of human infidelity and intense climate, but Gabriel maintained his dignity to the finish. Background understands little of Gabriel’s early-life.
