In 1970, among Mississippi s more colourful weekly newspapers, The Ford County Times, went bankrupt. To the shock and dismay of numerous, ownership was assumed with a 23-year-old college drop-out, named Willie Traynor. The continuing future of the paper looked grim until a mother was brutally raped and killed with a person in the notorious Padgitt family. Willie Traynor reported all of the gruesome details, and his newspaper started initially to prosper.The murderer, Danny Padgitt, was tried before a packed courthouse in Clanton, Mississippi.
