Lovecraft's readership was limited during his life, but his status since that time is continuing to grow in steps, and he's today seen as among the most important horror authors of the 20th-century. For many years there clearly was an extended and complicated debate about trademark regarding H. G. Lovecraft's stories, however it has become obvious recently that his stories have successfully joined in to the public-domain as there's no report of trademark renewals in the Library of Congress, and the same has been also indicated by other factors.
