It is 1963 and fourteen-year-old Esther Young is searching for pleasure. Cursed with deficiencies in expertise in a household filled with creative forms, Esther vows to acquire some interest by starting a summer love with a black teenager accused of killing a white man in Alabama.King-Roy Johnson turns up on Esther's doorstep that summer, an angry young man who feels betrayed by the non-violent teachings of Martin Luther King Jr. Delivered north by his mom to flee a lynch mob, he fulfills a fan of Malcolm X's who utilizes revolutionary teachings about black innovation to gas King-Roy's rage and disappointment. But with one another's aid, both Esther and King-Roy discover the true character of ethics and discover the capacity to operate for what's true and right.
