The Washington Post calls Sven Hassel “an amazing storyteller,” and his number of books about living in Hitler’s military have sold in the thousands. Within this wartime journey, his cast of characters is swept up with all the “Disciplinary Regiment,” a tank regiment that doesn’t have a tank to its title. Comprising a lot of hard killers dressed up in dirty rags and smelling to high heaven, they’re involved in-fighting a ferocious fight from the Russians. Then abruptly the purchases alter: they’re delivered to Hamburg, where their next task is likely to be guard responsibility for that bestial Gestapo.
