Within the twenty-third-century innovators have fled the packed earth for a lifetime in self-keeping orbital colonies.  One of the hives, Rotor, has broken away from the solar system to produce its rebel paradise around an unfamiliar reddish star two light-years from Earth:  a star called Nemesis.  Now a fifteen-year-old Rotorian woman has discovered of the serious risk that nemesis presents to Earth's people--but she's stopped from caution them.  Soon she'll recognize that Nemesis endangers Rotor as well.  And therefore it will be as much as her alone to truly save each Earth and Rotor as--driven inexorably by Nemesis, the dying star--they hurtle toward particular Catastrophe.
