Description

Languishing in a healing device on St. Charles Avenue in New Orleans, Dave Robicheaux is battling an adversary more subtle compared to one that put a bullet in his back per month earlier in a shoot-out on Bayou Teche. The morphine designed to dull his pain is playing tricks on his brain, continuously gnawing away at his handle, and luring him back to the abuser attitude that once threatened to ruin his household and life. Using the Indian summertime soporific air wafting through the louvered shades of his hospital room, and the devils battling for place in his mind, Dave can’t make sure whether his newest customer is blood and skin or perhaps a spectral indication of his La childhood.
