Description

Sheriff Hackberry Netherlands patrols a little Southwest Texas border city with a strong and abiding respect for the people in his treatment. Still mourning the increasing loss of his beloved partner and secured in a risky almost-love together with his deputy, Pam Tibbs, a lady several years his senior, Hackberry feeds off the actions of wicked men to maintain their own demons away. When alcohol ex-boxer Danny Child Lorca witnesses a guy tortured to death while in the wilderness and reviews it, Hack’s analysis results in the house of Anton Ling, a noble, mystical Oriental lady whom the residents make reference to as La Magdalena and who's recognized for sheltering illegals. Ling denies having observed the target or the perpetrators, but there's anything in her steely aristocratic elegance and attitude that compels Hackberry to come back to her house again and again whilst the study unfolds.
