At Moson, the river Danube went red with blood. At Antioch, the Crusaders— their saddles newly adorned with sawed off heads—indiscriminately blocked the roads with the systems of asian Christians and Turks. At on spits Ma’arra, they prepared kids and consumed them. From the time the Crusaders reached Jerusalem, their quest—and their violence— had become noticeably otherworldly: bloodstream actually went leg-deep through the streets whilst the Crusaders took over the holy town.
