In the 1960s, racism was widespread in Jackson, Mississippi, and it was typical for white males captured in the act of killing blues to be acquitted by all-white juries. But 40 years later, somebody is seeking justice; these same guys are arriving dead - in the similar way their victims were killed by them. Today, James Reynolds, who has overcome the chances - and their own private challenges - to get to be the only black prosecutor in Jackson, may encounter the toughest case of his life: He'll need certainly to prosecute primary suspect Martin Matheson, an excellent teacher, the child of the venerated Civil-Rights leader, and the recently hired people hero for a large number of African-Americans starving for retribution.
