Behind the well known U.S. safety organizations— the FBI and CIA among them—lies a heavily protected, unknown government company focused on intelligence monitoring and to some highly-specialized make of resident safety. Shock-Waves of alert swell through the agency when Washington, D.C., police investigator Ryan Kessler strangely becomes the goal of Carol Caring, an experienced, callous “lifter” employed to acquire data using whatever means necessary. His experience lies in obtaining an “edge” on his victim—leverage—usually by kidnapping or terrifying household before “primary” caverns under great pressure, while Caring is deft at pain.
