Edmund goes over the desolate scenery lumbering towards house. He comes, thrilled to learn that his family is deceased – they didn't have to reside through The Drop, didn't have to combat bandits and cannibals, didn't have to endure the apocalypse. They didn't endure. Like an incredible number of others they got swept up in pandemic influenza and died.
