When Denton, the well-known American writer and expatriate consequently-of-the-century London, gets a letter from the young lady saying she's at risk and needs his help, he worries there's something he may do. The notice is weeks old, and once the customer of the painting discovered it caught behind the body was just submitted to him. But why did she conceal the notice in the place of delivering it? The look for answers leads Denton in to the center of Bohemian London--the planet of their versions and designers, of depravity and beauty, in actuality the edge between insanity and genius is difficult to detect where but simple to mix.
