Pilot-in-instruction Matt Cruse and his love interest, Kate de Vries, a specialist on high-elevation life-types, are welcomed aboard the Starclimber, a boat that actually increases its way in to the cosmos. Matt privately ideas on asking Kate to marry him, but Kate declares her engagement—to another person, before they actually set foot aboard the vessel. Regardless of this bombshell, and Mattis suffering, they attempt their trip into house, but quickly the vessel is surrounded by unusual and disturbing life forms, and the team is required to fight disastrous physical malfunction.
