Description

The tale is placed in the British state of Ny throughout the French and Indian Conflict, and worries--simply--a Huron massacre (with inactive French acquiescence) of between 500 to 1,500 Anglo-American soldiers, who'd honorably surrendered at Fort William Henry, plus some ladies and servants; the kidnapping of two sisters, children of the British leader; and their recovery from the final two Mohicans, and others. Areas of the account might have been based on the record and death of Jane McCrea in July 1777 near Fort Edward, Ny, by people of an Algonquian group.
