Description

On April 19, 1967, Airforce Colonel Leo Thorsness was on a mission over North Vietnam when his wingman was shot down by an enemy MiG, which in turn arranged to get a pass on both American pilots who'd bailed out. Thorsness involved the MiG, though his Y 105 wasn't created for aerial combat and ruined it. Recognizing four additional MiGs, he struggled his way via a battery of Northern Vietnamese SAMs to interact them also, operating off others and shooting down one. For this course of action, Thorsness was given the Medal of Honor.
