Description
The M1 Carbine was manufactured in more numbers than every other People small-arm in World-War II (1939-1945). In 1938 the UNITED STATES Chief of Infantry required the Ordnance Department create a carbine or lighting rifle to be properly used by support and company artillerymen, troops, machine-gun crews, tankers, mortar crews and additional troops not requiring the ability of the M1 Garand rifle. The growth of the new tool was handed an additional impetus by Germany's effective utilization of glider and flying troops in early stages in World-War II. This triggered a concern amongst People officials that troops usually regarded "behind the lines" employees may need to combat elite German troops and could thus need a more efficient tool than their regular guns.
