When 'Mate' finds himself handcuffed to a boat rushing towards a Cornish cliff, he recalls why he's heading to his doom, and how his effective existence, as a vain and intercourse addicted salesman, expired when he turned disfigured by an experimental face cream. While covering in Cornwall, 'Mate' finds himself amongst a set of unusual figures, like Janet, the fanatical porno artist, Margaret Parks, the fame obsessed 60's movie star, and former London gangster, Billy Wallis, who'll murder anyone who gets in Margaret's way. All 'Mate' desires is to live a gorgeous and peaceful existence again, but his new buddies want to drag him kicking and screaming towards fame, fortune, porn artwork, exploding boats and ultimately death. UGLY ISSUES is part satire, part black and complicated story of our culture's preoccupation with gender, elegance and artwork.
