Mona Pringle, the neighborhood 911 operator, is asking Charlotte Adams along with her own crisis: Serena Redding, a higher school "mean girl" who used to torment Mona, is returning for a reunion. Charlotte does not think she means it, when Mona discusses how great it'd feel to destroy Serena. Nevertheless when a lady who appears like Serena is murdered in popular- and-run, and another former mean lady can also be run along, Charlotte knows she must look both ways for that currently-missing Mona.
