After thirteen-year-old Agnes Fisher faints at college, her teacher, the youthful and still idealistic Amy Slade, is surprised to find out within the girl’s table two stereoscopic pictures. One is of the dead infant in its cradle, and a terrible message have been scrawled by Agnes around the back. Worse, another picture is of Agnes in a present captioned “What Mr. Newly-Wed Truly Wants.” When Agnes doesn’t appear at school 24 hours later, her instructor requires both pictures to law enforcement.
