Jan 's dying father is haunted by a secret, Korr-a secret so dark that, if revealed, might bring the problem of the Firebringer. January is left using its horrible load, and an impossible option-postpone Tek, his beloved partner, and drop forever the kingship of the unicorns, or return and experience the effects of his dad's functions, and of their own.
