Description

In the first 1950s, an 11-year-old child in Colombo boards a ship bound for England. At meals he's placed at the “cat’s table”—as significantly from the Captain’s Desk as can be—with a ragtag number of “insignificant” people and two different boys, Cassius and Ramadhin. Whilst the ship makes its way throughout the Indian Ocean, through the Suez Canal, in to the Mediterranean, the boys drop from one experience to a different, flooding all around the place like liberated mercury.
