Eric Layton can be used to being awakened by the telephone. Firefighters are usually on-call. He’s almost to the doorway before he understands that it isn’t his key calling him set for an unmanageable fire, when his telephone rings in the centre of the night time. The girl on another end, however, is just a little unmanageable, and actually a great deal drunk.
