Description

Johnson Manning, printed a deserter in the British Navy, is compelled to alter his name to James Alford to prevent the death penalty. Decided to create a brand new life around the Gaspé Peninsula, he struggles to endure the hard scenery and get the hand of Catherine Garrett. After working in severe sub zero hardwoods, he saves the life span of an orphan working in a sawmill, and therefore increases essential wood to construct a homestead out-of intractable wilderness. But first he must fight murderous brigands to save a hungry bull leg he hopes would be the first of the oxen he so desperately has to clear his property.
