Their tranquil, decadent civilisation was quickly overcome with a group of ruthless, ambitious, unreconstructed people who call themselves the True, subsequently, a century before, the True beat back an advance party of Spirits, a posthuman conspiracy which colonised the regional system of Beta Hydri after being pushed in the Solar System one thousand years previously. Today the Spirits have delivered to Fomalhaut, to start their end-game: the cure of its solitary gas giant planet, a captured interstellar wanderer significantly more than the remainder of Fomalhautis program. At its core is just a world of warm metallic hydrogen with effective and unusual qualities centered on unique quantum science.
