Description

Gas is master of East Texas throughout the darkest years of the Truly Amazing Depression. The Stoddard girls—responsible Mayme, whip-smart tomboy Jeanine, and bookish Bea—know no life-but an itinerant one, looking their dad from town to town as he looks for focus on the derricks and pipelines. However in annually of disastrous drought and dust storms, the household's fortunes sink beyond they ever expected whenever a dubious "incident" leaves girls and their mother, Elizabeth, alone to face the hardships of those toughest of that time period. Returning with their formerly forgotten household plantation, the tough Stoddard ladies should now position their last hopes for answer in a wildcat oil well that consumes up what little they've left.
