Bob Lowndes constructed an appropriate job creating scores for movies in Hollywood. But after twenty five years abroad, and nevertheless silently reeling from the death of his beloved girlfriend, he chooses to come back to the Yorkshire dales of his childhood. He buys Kilnsgate Home, a rambling old mansion deep in the united states, to help ease the transfer. Anything concerning the house affects when he discovers that the house was the scene of the homicide significantly more than fifty years before him, a vague feeling that the long-vacant areas have now been awaiting him—feelings created ever-stronger, though Bob discovers Kilnsgate enchanting.
