Port Crane put all day in the empty lot. Then and now he shifted only a little to calm the demonstration of flat body and crowded muscles, but all of the time he was as motionless whilst the pile of towels he resembled. Not once did he hear or visit a Bohas broker, or, for instance, anybody. His panting flight had been hidden by the predawn darkness in the jungle, his dodging across yards while whistles shrilled and comments yelled, and his moving on-hands and legs down an alley in to the high grass and shrubs which surrounded a hidden garden.
