Description

The storm that's raging when angler's daughter Daisy Appleby comes into the world in a town just north of Sunderland might be taken as a notice of the life ahead. It is during another surprise fifteen years later that her dad and siblings are misplaced and Daisy saves Bill, heir of the rich Southwick household, with whom she falls in love. Quickly, as her prize for keeping him, Daisy is operating for Billis irascible cousin, while nearby lad Alf proceeds to judge her. Cautioned down by Daisy's grandma, Bill declines their own emotions and therefore it is likely to be a long time later, after much uncertainty and difficulty, that Daisy sees the happiness she deserves, amidst the crisis of the Truly Amazing War.
