About a minute, down and out actor Lorenzo Smythe was -- as usual -- in a bar, drinking away his troubles as he watched his career go down the tubes. A room pilot ordered him a glass or two, and the following point Smythe understood, he was shanghaied to Mars.Suddenly he found himself agreeing for the hardest part of his profession: impersonating an essential politician who'd been kidnapped. Peace with the Martians was at stake -- failure to accomplish the act you could end up interplanetary war. And Smythe's personal life was on the line -- for if he was not assassinated, there was always the chance that he may be caught in his new part permanently!
