Description

Football hasbeen Willy Novinskyis one enjoy since she first acquired a racquet in the age of four. A middle-ranked professional at twenty-three, she is met her match in Eric Oberdorf, a lower-ranked, untested Princeton graduate who also expects to create his mark on the international golf circuit. Eric becomes Willy's first enthusiasm off the judge, and eventually they marry. But while married life starts nicely, full tilt opposition quickly places a pressure on the relationship—and an urgent incident directs pushed and talented Willy slipping irrevocably toward bitterness, misfortune, and despair.
