Description
Using the center of Uphold Me and the guru terror of Christine, Mile 81 is Stephen King releasing his creativity as he pushes past some of those street signs, At Mile 81 on the Maine Turnpike is just a boarded up rest stop on a freeway in Maine. It is a place where high school kids drink and get into the type of difficulty high school kids have usually gotten into. It's where Pete Simmons moves when his older brother, who's said to be taking care of him, heads down towards the gravel pit to perform "paratroopers within the part." Pete, equipped merely with the magnifier he got for his eleventh birthday, discovers a bottle of vodka in the boarded up hamburger shack and beverages enough to distribute. Very little later, a dirt-covered station-wagon (which can be unusual since there had not been any rainfall in New England for over per week) veers in to the Kilometer 81 relaxation region, overlooking the warning that says "shut, no solutions." The driver's door opens but nobody gets out.
