A washed-up author navigates the dreamscape of the cataclysm-ravaged Los Angeles Within the apocalyptic Los Angeles of Amnesiascope, time-zones grow readily, spectral results wander the roads, and the city is separated by rings of fire from the remainder of the nation. The narrator, a former author, lives in a resort and creates movie critique for a paper whose offices are observed in a bombed-out theatre. Viv, his partner, is just a sexually insatiable performer, and together both are collaborating on an avant garde adult movie. However in this-world, what’s actual and what’s simply the conjuring of the protagonist’s imagination—obsessed with films, desires, intercourse, and remembrance—is not even close to obvious.
