It might be 1893 and today's modern world may entirely-swing, but cowboy Gustav "Old Red" Amlingmeyer is definitely an old-fashioned type of guy: he favors an extended trail experience even if a practice could easily get him where heis moving in one-tenth enough time. His buddy Otto ("Big Red"), on another hand, would not head hiking down from his horse and onto a practice when in a while if it'll provide his saddle-sore tail a rest. Then when itis Old Red who demands they sign on to safeguard the magnificent Pacific Show, despite a decades-old Amlingmeyer household mistrust of the plantation-stealin', cows-killin', money-grubbin' railroads, Big Red is flummoxed. But Old Red, exhausted of the cowpoke existence, really wants to have a stab at skilled 'detectifying' just like his hero, Sherlock Holmes and guard careers for the railroad are the only ones on offer.               So it's that Huge Red and Old Red discover themselves trapped on a thousand tons of steam-driven metal, summiting the Sierras en route to San Francisco with a crafty gang of outlaws somewhere around the next bend, a baggage car jam-packed with life-threatening strategies, and a vicious killer concealed somewhere amongst the colorful passengers.
