Description

Within the ruins of the place once referred to as The United States lies the country of Panem, a glowing Capitol enclosed by twelve outlying areas. Sometime ago the areas fought war to the Capitol and were conquered. Included in the surrender terms, each area decided to deliver one woman and one child to surface in an annual public function named, "The Starvation Activities," a battle to the death on live Television. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her younger brother and mother, regards it as a death sentence when she's compelled to represent her area within the Activities.
