Description

Larry Darrell is just a young American looking for the total. The improvement of his religious journey entails him with a number of Maugham's most amazing characters - his girlfriend Isabel whose selection between love and prosperity have lifelong consequences, and Elliott Templeton, her dad, a vintage expatriate National snob.  Maugham herself walks in and from the tale, to see his characters battling with their fates.
